After many weeks of struggling against the learning curve of Effect House visual script, I finally got the hang of how to create the project that I envisioned. Previously, much like Jakob, I was working from an example I found online and modifying that project in order to achieve what I wanted the game to be. However, I found it very difficult to understand, considering how I had little basics of the software itself.
As a result of these struggles, I decided to start from scratch and learn the basics from the ground up. As someone who has an understanding of code already, I found it helpful to have the freedom to create the script from scratch. The learning curve of the visual script was much easier to handle when I was creating a project from scratch, as opposed to figuring it out from a project that is already created. Within a matter of days, I already had more progress than I had in several weeks. I am now not only more informed about how to create the projet I am intending to, but I also know where and what to ask online in order to get the information I need when I have a problem that needs to be solved.
The filter is now nearly finished, with a couple of bugs that need to be fixed, but the assets are created and the basics of the game is working.
