I am on the Micro Forest team. We learned about the Micro Forest that is in Griffith Park. I live close to there, so I decided to go there to do pre-production on the project. I brought my THETA V 3D camera to see if I could get some footage. We could not find the Micro Forest because it has no signs. We had to ask someone who was walking her dog. When we got there, we saw that there was a gate made of wire. The gate was probably there to keep the dogs out and to keep it safe. My mom decided to open the gate because this was a school project. I took a 3D stationary video, a walkthrough with my 3D camera using a mono pod, and a 4K video with my iPhone. The walkthrough video did not work because it was too bumpy. Most of the plants are not blooming and the trees are bare. We saw the park ranger come by and stop on the street, so my mom closed the wire gate and we escaped. I hope that we could use the 3D immersive for part of the project. I think that someone had an idea to put in animated plants and trees. I am working on the sound and putting it together now.

I enjoyed the walk experience. My teammates and I took for research to determined native or non-native trees on the Urban Forest tour #1. One of the trees that I liked on the tour is the Canary Island Date Palm tree because it can produce the fruit date, however, it is a non-native plant. Another tree that I liked on the tour is the Indian Laurel Fig, which is a native in India and Malaysia. A teammate called the fig “The Wisdom Tree” and we might design an AR 360 visual projection of the tree. Lastly, on the tree tour, the sweet orange trees are native to Vietnam, northwest India, and southern China. I enjoyed the smell of the oranges tree. The team took a 360 scan of the “sweet orange tree” that will be implanted for the Micro Forest as a possible background. The team also have decided will incorporate a Micro Forest and I am looking forward to completing animation project for the Micro Forest zine book.
In conclusion, I’m happy to be a part of this creative team, looking forward to creating a great Capstone project.
