As the post-production phase of the XTENDED REALI-TREE project comes to a close, it's important to reflect on the overall progress of the project. The team has been successful in navigating through the pre-production and production phases, despite several obstacles encountered.
One significant challenge we faced was the weather and the lack of fullness of some trees for 3D scanning, which affected our ability to capture the necessary data scans for the project. However, we made the decision to use a different set of trees than initially planned, which enabled us to move forward and achieve our objectives.
Another major challenge was the integration and implementation of 3D scans for the AR book, which had texture issues upon import. The team was able to overcome this obstacle after several weeks of testing and modifying the models. The next steps involve determining how to add animations and audio to the AR book, which will require additional testing and implementation. We do know that the animations must baked and the audio files must be .m4a format.
The last and most time consuming issue was figuring out how to limit the amount of QR codes throughout our AR Book. This proofed to be extremely difficult as it introduced a new coding language, REACT. Luckly, I was able to find a template that fit my needs and began dissecting it to learn its in and outs. This took about a week to understand and another week to integrate our project. However, we are still struggling to get one project to integrate properly. This will be out main goal for the next week.
Despite these challenges, progress has been made on the website. I was able to integrate some of the blog posts, but there are still several remaining. Tasking a team member to complete the AR book will allow me to focus on the website and make progress towards completing it.
In conclusion, the post-production phase of the XTENDED REALI-TREE project will require us to continue working collaboratively and problem-solving as we encounter new challenges. Despite the challenges we have faced, we remain optimistic that we will deliver an exceptional project that meets our objectives.
